RealFood Gives Back

Recently our President, Ed Doyle, and our friends from Commonwealth Kitchen, Nookie and Nicco, took a trip to Jamaica to volunteer at "Simply Red: Wine & Food Festival," which is the biggest fundraiser of the year for The Heart Foundation of Jamaica. The event raised money to fight heart disease in Jamaica, while introducing the local youth to the culinary arts.

Ed commented, "The hospitality industry has a long history of supporting social causes and we feel the same way at RealFood. And while it doesn t take a lot to get me to go to Jamaica for 5 days of fun with a bunch of chefs, we understand how important it is to support causes like the Jamaica Heart Foundation as they work to support heart health in the developing island of Jamaica."

Rodman Ride, organized by Rodman for Kids, was another philanthropy event RealFood recently participated in. Rodman for Kids is an umbrella matching gift charity raising funds for youth-focused social-service organizations that support at-risk children in Massachusetts. Rodman for Kids and its affiliated charities fundraise year-round, culminating with the Ride for Kids event, a 25, 50, and 100-mile noncompetitive cycling tour, each fall. Ed has supported this organization since 1997, and is on their Chefs Committee, which has helped to raise $1 million at their annual holiday event.

"The Rodman Ride is a great opportunity for the team at RealFood to support an organization that does amazing work with kids right here in our community," Ed said. He added, "It gives me the chance to combine my love for cycling and my desire to make a difference."
