Parkland Golf & Country Club

Known for its relaxed, youthful spirit, Parkland Golf & Country Club is a gated residential community spanning 790 acres with nearly 1,000 homes in Florida’s Broward County. Providing solutions at every stage of the hospitality business lifecycle, the RealFood multi-disciplinary team helped realize a multi-million dollar clubhouse renovation aiming to create a social hub of dining experiences for the entire community.

How We Fit In

Because of the project scale, RealFood managed multiple workstreams simultaneously. At the highest level, we worked with club management and governing committees to establish an overarching brand strategy for the club. This set the strategic table for all other work to follow, including the highlight of the reno project: the clubhouse restaurant.

Working with the architect of record, Meyers+Associates, our team executed foodservice design for the renovated kitchen, bar and service areas, as well as interior design for the member-facing restaurant spaces.

The RealFood strategy and branding team worked directly with the PGCC’s membership director, general manager and board of directors to develop the concept, name and brand for the new clubhouse restaurant.

Strategic Framework

In the members’ words, they wanted “a neighborhood spot, for all of us.” To serve Parkland’s active, family-focused membership while staying relevant to more traditional users, we had to solve the classic country club paradox: Design a single environment that accommodated various use-cases, from everyday dining to celebratory gatherings.

Every phase of work required versatility and flexibility, demanding balancing and blending to cater to the many tastes, preferences and ages of the membership makeup.

Pencil to Paper

The project called for a total reimagining of the available dining space and conceptual framework. To create experiential pockets within the larger restaurant outlines, the design doubled the restaurant and kitchen capacity allowing for dedicated spaces to deliver intentional dining experiences. The plan included a traditional main dining room with layered seating options; a quiet, enclosed private dining room; a high-energy bar and lounge; and outdoor dining space for free-flowing alfresco activity.

The ability to realize this plan hinged on the back of house, so RealFood designers engineered high-volume engine with workflows that would serve the mosaic of front-of-house dining experiences.

In the End

The new clubhouse restaurant opened as The Park Restaurant & Bar, named to flow within the club’s brand architecture and to represent a true “community green space” dining concept. The Park serves as the social epicenter of the neighborhood, where members and their guests alight and enjoy in a multitude of ways.

Surrounded by lush, tropical and fountain-speckled landscape, The Park offers an elevated, yet warm atmosphere that blends contemporary design with the community’s Tuscan-inspired aesthetic. The menu features modern American classics, paired with an abundant collection of wines, craft brews and fine spirits.
